The start of school holidays always marks a peak in activity at the Don Bosco Youth Centre in Brunswick!

As Victorian students enter their hard-earned two weeks of school holidays, they will no doubt have little other than rest, relaxation and recreation on their minds. For Br David O’Brien, Fr Peter Kerin and the staff of the Brunswick Youth Centre, the next two weeks will be anything but!

On almost every day of the holidays the youth centre will open its doors to the young people of the area, giving them an opportunity to not just have a fun time, but to come to a safe place where they can feel respected, appreciated and allow their talents to shine. The fun-filled environment will provide a great way for young people to enjoy themselves, rather than looking to simply pass the time at home, or on the street

The Youth Centre has a wide range of activities on offer, from table tennis, pool and foosball tables, gymnastic equipment, a basketball court and of course, trampolines – a long term crowd-favourite!

These school holiday period, the Youth Centre will also facilitate visits from a wide variety of groups from around Melbourne, such as the Deaf children Australia, Port Melbourne neighbourhood house and the Moreland council school holiday program.

The Youth Centre is located at 715 Sydney Rd, Brunswick and entry is open to the general public completely free of charge. However, there are session times for specific age groups, so that all young people are able to enjoy the best of the facilities with peers of similar capabilities.

Session times for Under 12 year olds will run from 9:30am-11am and will be on offer on both Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays of the school holidays.

Session times for 11-17 year olds will run from 2:30pm-5pm and will be on offer every day of the holidays except for Mondays

After the completion of the holidays, the youth centre will be closed for one week and will reopen on Tuesday, 23rd of July, following the regular term opening hours.
